DailyDrop

A music curation platform, Rails 8 and native iOS: songs are never hosted, but exported into the listener's own streaming account.

The project

Multi-user daily music curation with taste-matching and subscriber communities. One click exports a drop into the listener's own streaming account.

Passkeys and WebAuthn authentication with a password fallback, and Apple Music (MusicKit) and Spotify OAuth and playlist integration, including the platforms' compliance work. A native Swift iOS client carries a Live Activities widget extension and its own test suite.

A feature-flag and experiment framework, Architecture Decision Records, and a deployment and incident runbook. Deployed with Kamal 2 and Docker; GitHub Actions CI runs a Lighthouse performance budget. Test code exceeds application code.

How it was built

Generated from the rails-rocket-sheep template in February 2026, with the MVP built the next day: the selection engine, Apple Music integration and the public frontend. Design work is written down as it goes: over a hundred design docs and thirty decision records. In August it adopted the template's agent workflow, and production incidents are written up as postmortems in the repo; the last, a silent drop of library-scoped Apple Music IDs, ended in a fix and a rule to flag degraded rows instead of falling back silently.
